Introduction
As of September 2020, the UK government has mandated that health education will be compulsory in all state-funded schools, including basic first aid. To ensure that all students are able to meet this requirement, we are offering a Student First Aid course, specially designed for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (Age 11+), providing a fun, interactive and essential experience for every participant.
Learning Outcomes
- To preserve the life of a casualty in the event of a medical emergency.
- To understand how to maintain the safety of the casualty and the scene around them.
- To learn about the different types of medical emergency and what might cause them, including sprains and strains, head injuries, and burns/scalds.
- To build confidence in responding to a casualty in need of a medical emergency.
- To develop confidence and proficiency in performing first aid techniques, and understand when we need to apply them.
- To effectively demonstrate a range of first aid techniques, including CPR (with AED), chokes, recovery positions, and bandaging.
