With an increase in multi-culturalism in society, it is more important than ever for staff to recognise and respect equality and diversity in the workplace. This course is designed to enable participants to understand what we mean by “equality” and “diversity”, recognise and tackle discrimination in the workplace, and the legal rights and responsibilities that govern an individual’s right to fair treatment, regardless of race, gender, religion or background.

Learning Outcomes

  • To understand what we mean by the terms “equality” and “diversity”.
  • To identify signs and impact of discrimination, and have the confidence to report it.
  • To learn about the legal rights and responsibilities that exist in the UK to protect individuals from discrimination.
  • To respect the “individuality” of each person and make them feel valued in the workplace.
  • To encourage discussion around equality and diversity, and ensure that we are giving these terms the considerations that they deserve.
